Who was Spartacus?
He was a Thracian slave and gladiator who organized a rebellion in 73 B.C. with about 70 other gladiators.
The Revolt:
The rebellion grew to tens of thousands of slaves and peasants and became known as the Third Servile War. Spartacus's army defeated several Roman legions before being eventually defeated.
Historical Significance:
Spartacus's revolt was one of the most significant slave uprisings in Roman history, shaking the empire's foundation.
